What is in Pro-Dosa BOOST and what do these nutrients do?
Pro Dosa BOOST is a comprehensive, balanced, multi-nutrient paste it contains vitamins and minerals.  It also contains both essential and non-essential amino acids which are involved in growth, protein development and red cell production.   Pro-Dosa BOOST includes vitamin C an anti-oxidant, necessary for the absorption of iron from the gut.  B vitamins needed in higher amounts when horses are under stress. Iron, folic acid, and copper which are also involved in red blood cell production. Electrolytes, which are balanced for safety. Pro-Dosa BOOST does not contain fat-soluble vitamins that will bind to iron and prevent its absorption.  Pro-Dosa BOOST does not contain Selenium due to its toxicity.

How do I give my horse Pro-Dosa BOOST?
Pro-Dosa BOOST comes in an 80ml one dose syringe allowing for ease of administration, either administer orally over the tongue, or alternatively over the horse’s feed.  Please ensure your horse has 24/7 access to clean, fresh water.

Pro-Dosa BOOST is just for race horses, only isn’t it?
No, not at all. Pro-Dosa BOOST is a fantastic supplement for all performance horses’ not just racehorses.  Pro-Dosa BOOST is a comprehensive, balanced, multi-nutrient pasted formulated to replace those essential nutrients lost by any horse during training, competition, transport and stress. So, it fits the requirements of horses used for many different disciplines including polo ponies, dressage horses, show-jumpers, eventers, endurance horses, cutting horses, broodmares, yearlings and stallions etc.

Why would I need to give Pro-Dosa BOOST to my dressage horse?
It can take up to four days for muscles to recover from exertion, so horses participating in multiple classes on one day or, in multiple-day competitions may wind up performing considerably below their best. Pro-Dosa BOOST helps to minimize lactic acid accumulation, muscle cell damage, and muscle fatigue enabling horses to perform better after transport or at the end of a long day of competition.  It also helps horses to recover from the first day’s efforts and allows them to perform at their best again the next day.  Importantly, there are several nutrients recognised to be important in the maintenance of normal nerve and muscle function when horses are under stress.  Pro-Dosa BOOST contains Magnesium, Tryptophan, Tyrosine, and Thiamine (Vitamin B1) which help relax horses so they are not too flighty and their energy goes into performance not silly behaviour.

Will Pro-Dosa BOOST produce a positive drug test result?
We are confident that administering Pro-Dosa BOOST following our directions will not produce a positive drug test result.  We do advise that you are aware of any rules surrounding the administration of supplements for your discipline and jurisdiction.

There is so much controversy about Cobalt in the racing world.  Does Pro-Dosa BOOST contain Cobalt?

Pro-Dosa BOOST with an expiry date after September 2019 will have been made without added cobalt.  In late 2015, Dr Corinne Hills of Pro-Dosa International conducted a study on the Urinary Excretion of cobalt in horses (the link to the research study is here).  We could demonstrate the safety of Pro-Dosa BOOST with respect to cobalt in drug testing.  Dr Hills was equally excited about the results seen after giving the trial group the negative control treatment (Pro-Dosa BOOST made without cobalt).  Horses were better able to utilise the cobalt present in the daily ration, and wastage was reduced to zero.  We were confident that horses fed our new Pro-Dosa BOOST without cobalt will do as well, while causing less worry and confusion among horsemen who have been advised to avoid feeding cobalt.

Do you recommend using Pro-Dosa BOOST prior to travelling to an event or upon arrival?
We recommend giving one tube of Pro-Dosa BOOST 4 – 12 hours prior to travel.  If you have a long trip, and/or hot temperatures we do advise giving another tube on arrival.  Also ensure they have access to plenty of clean, fresh water.

I have a very excitable horse who is quite nervy – is Pro-Dosa BOOST really the right supplement for my horse?
Pro-Dosa BOOST will be a great supplement for your horse as it contains high levels of vitamin B1, Magnesium, Tryptophan, and Tyrosine these are nutrients that relax horses, so they are more likely to channel any extra energy into performance not silliness.

My horse is not a great traveller, he goes off his feed and water.  Can Pro-Dosa BOOST help?
Absolutely, Pro-Dosa BOOST will help your horse! Horses under the stress of competition, transport or illness can become dull, go off feed, or fail to drink well.  Pro-Dosa BOOST contains significant doses of nutrients that help to stimulate appetite and thirst, improve coat and skin condition, and increase energy levels.

What makes Pro-Dosa BOOST different from other “boost” pastes you see on the market?
Pro-Dosa BOOST is a multi-nutrient paste which provides a compliment of nutrients in careful balance.  Including, 20 essential and non-essential Amino Acids for growth, protein metabolism and red blood cell production. Trace Minerals including Iron, copper and folic acid and B vitamins which are required in higher amounts in horses under stress. Electrolytes which are balanced for safety and required to help rehydrate.  It also has vitamin C which is required for the absorption of iron from the gut.  It does not contain fat soluble vitamins that will bind with iron and prevent its absorption.  Nor does it contain selenium which can be toxic.

There is no other paste on the market which can provide this range of nutrients.

Sometime in the winter months I find it harder to use the Pro-Dosa BOOST syringe – why is that and is there anything I can do to make this easier?
We have heard from some other of our valued clients about Pro-Dosa BOOST during the winter months so we have taken action!  We now undertake additional testing before we package the paste to ensure each batch is the same and it all flows as it should.  If it is especially cold where you reside, pop your Pro-Dosa BOOST syringes in a bucket of hot water which will warm it up and help the flow.

Where can I purchase Pro-Dosa BOOST?
You can buy Pro-Dosa BOOST from most feed merchants and saddlery supplies.  For a stockist near you click on this link. Then search suppliers in your area. Alternatively, give us a call or send us an email we would be happy to help you find a supplier in your area.

What other supplements or electrolytes do I need to use with BOOST?

Pro-Dosa BOOST is a balanced multi-nutrient paste so if your horse is getting a well-balanced diet with plenty of roughage and access to clean fresh water the only other supplement you could feed is 20g of plain salt.

Why is Pro-Dosa BOOST only in a syringe?

This is a great question! – We do know there are supplements on the market that are available in larger packaging forms such as buckets and using a syringe or dosing gun you take the required amount from the bucket.  We have chosen to keep Pro-Dosa BOOST in the syringe for several reasons; one of which is to eliminate the risk of contamination which can occur when a lid is left off a bucket or bottle. A manner of contaminants could fall in, quite unnoticed.  Bacteria, moulds, and even other products or pharmaceuticals, accidently introduced, when fed to your horse could potentially lead to illness, product viability issues, or positive drug tests. If you would like to read more about why we have chosen to keep Pro-Dosa BOOST in a syringe packaging check out this article.

Why does Pro-Dosa BOOST cost more than other supplement pastes?

Pro-Dosa BOOST was developed by veterinarian, Dr. Corinne Hills to replace the administration of electrolytes by stomach tube along with various amino acid, vitamin, trace mineral, and iron solutions by injection. Thus, when comparing Pro-Dosa BOOST to the cost of these practices performed by veterinarians, Pro-Dosa BOOST is very cost effective.
